There's a difference

It often seems that on deviantART, anything over 100 points is 'expensive as hell' which is one big pile of bullshit. Just because you don't want to throw money at someone for working HOURS UPON HOURS doesn't mean that it's 'overpriced and needs to be cheaper' - It means you need to make up your mind if this piece of artwork is really that important to you. If you're not willing to spend $10 or 1000 points on a picture, it's clearly not important enough for you. And if you still really want the picture, but don't want to spend your precious money, you can draw it yourself. Noone's stopping you from that~

But no, $30 for a full picture is NOT expensive. Often, these pictures will take 6+ hours for the artist, which means they'll be working for $5 an hour which is below the minimum US wage - It's even lower than Poland's.*

So no - Just because you like it when people sell  their full artworks for 100 points or lower, doesn't mean that anything that is actually costs over $1 is 'unfairly priced' - Heck, setting your prices to so few points is unfair; Unfair for the artist who get shit in return.

* - Used Poland as an example, as it's known for having a low minimum wage - I'm not trying to say anything bad about the country (:

I've seen a lot about pricing lately and I've seriously been tempted to encourage more artists to charge what they are truly worth and not cowtow to the worthless cheap skates. I know that I wouldn't work a day job for less than minimum wage so why should an artist. No one ever should post their art for anything less than at least US minimum wage. That is an artist's time being spent there a piece of their soul goes into that work of art it should never be sold short.
